Dr. Monica Adkins, Chiropractic Physician

Dr_Monica.jpgBorn on Long Island, New York, Monica Adkins earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees at The University of New York, Plattsburgh and a duel program between Ithaca College and Cornell University respectively. When she graduated she took a wonderful opportunity to work at Columbia University as a Certified Athletic Trainer. It was there that she realized that she had to do more to help people get healthy and to reach their own human potential. She decided to become a chiropractor. Monica Adkins attended Life University from 1995-1999 and graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic. Upon graduating she and her husband moved to Missoula, Montana and opened A Simple Practice - Good Health Through Chiropractic. It was a fun and happening healing place with patients ranging from professional snowboarders, famous authors, mothers, fathers, children, and even new born babies. She also became recognized for successfully treating many children with special needs. It was fun, exciting and very rewarding.

In Missoula, Dr. Adkins served patients in town at her office and traveled to serve neighboring communities as well. With 2 young children of her own, she became well versed and effective in treating babies with any number of health issues due to birth and birth trauma. Monica also held weekly classes for her patients as well as other groups - with education oriented to general health, nutrition, spinal care and workforce health. Monica's office received a best practices award for being bicycle and pedestrian friendly.

Dr. Adkins and her family moved to Eugene in 2007. Since then she has been very busy raising her twins and two older children. And now that her twins are in school, she has reestablished herself at Aspen Wellness Chiropractic Center, just a short bike ride from her home in the Whiteaker neighborhood.

Dr. James Davis, Chiropractic Physician

Dr. James Davis graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic in 1981. He then completed an additional residency with Dr. John Southerland in Gridley, California, before moving back to his home state of Idaho in October of 1982. Dr. Davis practiced there for a while and then moved to Australia for about ten years where he studied under a master acupuncturist and further honed his acupuncture skills in Dr. Manaka’s Japanese style of acupuncture. He returned to the states and opened a practice in Victor, Idaho until recently when he relocated to Eugene Oregon. Here in Eugene, he has opened an office on Washington Street and is pleased to be living near his two sons who are also Chiropractic Physicians in Cottage Grove, Oregon.

As an experienced Chiropractic Physician and Certified Health Coach, Dr. Davis has a unique approach to the diagnosis and treatment of his patients. He has always said that his best teachers are his patients. Often the symptoms they present actually originate from somewhere other than where the discomfort is felt. Understanding the many ways that our bodies communicate illness and disease, and knowing that his patients will respond only when the source of the issue is addressed, Dr. Davis takes special care to find the underlying source of the symptoms. He is often successful in the diagnosis and treatment of illness or spinal misalignments which have not responded well to other treatment modalities.

In addition to excellent chiropractic care, Dr. Davis offers nutritional evaluation and testing, hormonal evaluation and balancing, allergy elimination techniques, life-style modification, and weight loss support using the popular HCG diet plan. Expectant mothers appreciate his pre-term care and athletes seek his services to maintain optimal performance and relief from sports injury.

Dr. Davis has a lot of offer those who visit his practice. He uses a wide variety of diagnosis and treatment techniques, some of which include the activator, Applied Kinesiology, acupressure, laser, NLP, NAET and muscle testing as a source of bio-feedback.

Approachable and friendly, Dr. Jim has a way of putting people at ease, including children who appreciate his sense of humor and quickly come to trust his gentle care. Dr. Jim has a saying that reflects his philosophy for patient care: “Doctors are easy to fire, you just don’t go back.” His respectful, patient-centered, results-oriented service is what all of us are searching for. But most importantly, Dr. Jim sincerely cares about people and wants us to feel our very best.
